SCOUTING THE REDS: ADNAN JANUZAJ

Name: Adnan Januzaj
Date of Birth: 5th Feb 1995
Nationality: Belgian
Position: Midfielder / Winger
Club: Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson last month tipped that Adnan Januzaj would make a breakthrough at the club, and just two days after winning the title Adnan was registered in the league and was given the squad number 44, a well-deserved reward after his impressive season in the academy.

The Belgium born 18-year-old was signed from Anderlecht in 2011. Januzaj is a left footed player who plays on the right flank. His vision is something that has impressed Sir Alex Ferguson and also he is good at Set Pieces.  After a poor display by the wingers this season, Adnan might even get his first debut before the end of the season.

Januzaj is one of the skinniest players in the squad but is always up for challenges even if the opponent is twice his size. One of the most technically gifted players in the squad, probably the reason why he is loved by Sir Alex. Adnan has his contract till 2015 which makes sure that United need not fear of any similar situation as that of Ravel Morrison or Paul Pogba any soon.

Sir Alex on Adnan: “Adnan is a beautifully balanced player; He’s only 18 and still to grow into his frame. But he has good balance, good acceleration and he’s a very good technical player.”

Warren Joyce (Reserves Coach) on Adnan: “Adnan is still developing but there’s no doubt he’s got talent too. He’s got a good footballing brain and a good touch. We’re trying to get him stronger and fitter and he’s getting to know the Manchester United style of play as well.”

He says, “I have said from the very first game I saw him play that he will be a future first team player. I’m not one for rushing kids into the first team but if you’re good enough, you’re old enough. He has a huge future ahead in my opinion”)
